If you are prepared to accept the appointment on these conditions, you should take an early opportunity nity of preamuting yourself to one of the hedical Auvisers whose names are given on the encloses letter, for the purpose of being; medically examined, and he will send his report direct to this Department. The fee will be paid by the Crown Agents for the colonies, and if it should be necessary for you to travel by rail for the purpose of the examination, your 3rd class return fere will be refunded to you on your informing this Lepart- ment of the amount.
6. If finally selected for the appointment, you will be provided with a free passage to hongKong, 1st class by other than a mil steamer, subject to an under- taking to repay its cost in the event of your leaving the service of the government within four years from the date of your arrival in the colony for any other reason than mental of physical infirmity. You will be re- quired to enter into an agreement to this effect with the Crown Agents for the colonies and to find one surety for its age performance. In the alternative, if you prefer not to provide a surety, a ceduction of lb. will be saue from your salary for the first three years in tonsideration of the cost of your pasaaga. The amount so deducted will be paid over to you on the satisfactory completion of four years' service. If you accept the appointment you should state which of these

7. You will be entitled to half salary from the date of your embarkation from this country, and to
